Total amateur here, just joined the HDTV world. Here is my purchase: Samsung 1080p 46" Widescreen LCD HDTV Canadian) Rogers HD Personal Video Recorder Samsung Blu-ray 1080p DVD Player Ok, i know there's a lot of hullabaloo about the quality of cables and whether pricier cables are better. I was wondering if it does matter what brand the cables you get coz i usually get my cables from http://www.mycableshop.ca Do i need to shop around for better cables? Are monster cables worth it? Has anyone heard of ultralink cables? Thoughts? Suggestions? I will appreciate it. Help a noobie out.
Save your money. Monster cables are overpriced. Check monoprice. Or go to your local walmart or the like. I got mine from walgreens.
All my HDMI cables are from monoprice and they are great. They are just as good as monster cables if not better.
If your using hdmi it either works or it doesn't work at all. Digital is 0's and 1's, so quality is the same accross the board. Analog is where you would see a difference in quality (componant), but nothing to warrent paying over $100 on a single monster cable.
yea, i noticed monster cables were really over priced. i am usning a 26" lcd hdtv and went to radioshack to look for a cable to run from the dvi port on my graphics card on my computer to the hdmi port on my tv. i found the dvi/hdmi cord at radioshack, and it was a gold plated monster cable. $65 bucks! went to walmart and got the same cable made by panasonic, gold plated and everything for $25, lol.
