Hi all,

My laptop has been freezed for so many times now. I tried to scan my computer everyday with AVG but nothing comes up. Please take a look at my Hijackthis log and help me, please!

Click on start >>control panel>>add remove programs
click on the following programs and click on remove

Megaupload Toolbar

Fix entries using HiJackThis

Launch HiJackThis
Click the Do a system scan only button
Put a check next to the entries listed below (if they still remain)

Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your desktop.

Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
• At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
• If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
• Once the program has loaded, select Perform full scan, then click Scan.
• When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
• Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected. <-- Don't forget this.
• When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location. The log can also be found here: C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\Logs\log-date.txt

• Please post the MBAM Log and a fresh HJT log in your next reply.

Oh.. so should I get rid of Google toolbar? Do you still use it yourself?
I also want to ask you this: I use AVG, and whenever it scans my computer, there's nothing found infected, but every time I'd see these files: kernel32.dll, wsock32.dll, user32.dll, shell32.dll, ntoskrnl.exe (from folder system32) came up w/ result "CHANGE". What does it mean?
Btw, I didn't hear you say anything, so I assume my computer is okay now? Got rid of those trojans, right?

He He, I’ve got a pet peeve against tool bars…. Google and Yahoo are ok I just hate that I have to uncheck a box to keep them from installing every time I install another program..

You probably have some corrupt dll files. Go here and use the search to find and download them.. Then just unzip and install good copies,,,

Sorry for the delay. I couldn't install any of the .dll files. When I extract the file into C:\WINDOWS\system32, it didn't work.
"Error: Some or all files could not be extracted from the archive. This can be caused by an invalid or no password or because of corrupt files."
I had tried many times but all failed.

You may be missing essential windows components, which may be causing your issues.

Run sfc /scannow
If you have the XP cd please put it in your cd drive.
• Stop all running programs and make sure you are at a point in time when letting your computer work for a minute isn't going to be a problem.
• Get Erunt. With this simple utility you can backup your registry before any changes are made and restore to these saved changes should it become necessary.
• Make a registry backup with Erunt before continuing. You can also create a restore point for added insurance. (Start > All programs > Acessories > System tools > System Restore)
• Click Start > run > type in sfc /scannow > Press Enter. This is the system file checker. What it does is scour your system and look for windows system files that are corrupt or missing. If it needs a file off of the XP cd it can grab it if you have the XP CD. If you DON'T have the XP cd all is not quite lost yet. We can try restoring system files from your computer's dllcache (which would possibly require a registry change).
• After this process is complete you may need to reboot.
Note: If you are a power user using registry tweaks, you will likely have to reapply those tweaks after the scan is complete.

Hi,

I run SFC, but because I don't have the CD, when it asked for "insert your Windows XP Professional CD-ROM now", I clicked on "Cancel", the "Windows File Protection" still running and run to the end but nothing happened after that. ??!?? What did I miss out?
About the Windows XP CD, can I download it?

I see you have SP3 installed and if I remember correctly, SP3 places a copy of the system files on your HD so you may not need the CD.

Go to C:\Windows\ and check if the folder i386 is there. Let me know and we can use it to fix the busted files. You cannot download this folder, it’s M$ stuff and has to come through the channels.

There is a folder i386 in C:\, but I think it is corrupted, because it still asked for the XP CD when I run SFC ( after I did that SourcePath C:\)

Look for i386 in C:\Windows

if it's in there, set the SourcePath to C:\Windows then it won't look for the CD.

Hi,

There is only one i386 folder that I see, and it's in C:\. I didn't see any i386 in C:\WINDOWS. How do I find it?
But my computer has so many spywares now ( like trojan.vundo.H, trojan.HBO..) Is it because of those windows components problem? I've tried to run Spy-bot, AntiSpyware, Malwarebyte's, and ATF Cleaner... but I couldn't get rid of them all. Plus, sometimes my computer shuts down in 30 sec automatically ( while one of the spybot was running, so the scan couldn't finish).

What should I do now? Please, help!

You also have a Trojan that I am unable to identify but I’ll bet we can dig it out….

That looks much better. Before we drag out the “Big Guns”. Please do the following.
We’ll try running in Safe Mode to avoid the Trojan interfering with the scans…

Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune & save it to your desktop. DO NOT use yet.

Please download and install SUPERAntiSpyware Free

• Double-click SUPERAntiSypware.exe and use the default settings for installation.
• An icon will be created on your desktop. Double-click that icon to launch the program.
• If asked to update the program definitions, click "Yes". If not, update the definitions before scanning by selecting "Check for Updates". (If you encounter any problems while downloading the updates, manually download them from here and unzip into the program's folder.)
• Under the "Configuration and Preferences", click the Preferences... button.
• Click the "General and Startup" tab, and under Start-up Options, make sure "Start SUPERAntiSpyware when Windows starts" box is unchecked.
• Click the "Scanning Control" tab, and under Scanner Options, make sure the following are checked (leave all others unchecked):
o Close browsers before scanning.
o Scan for tracking cookies.
o Terminate memory threats before quarantining.
• Click the "Close" button to leave the control center screen and exit the program.
• Do not run a scan just yet.


Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your desktop.

Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
• At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
• If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
• "Close" the program. Do not run a scan just yet.

Use Safe Mode for cleaning
Reboot your computer in "Safe Mode" using the F8 method. To do this, restart your computer and before the Windows icon appears press the F8 key repeatedly. A menu will appear with several options. Use the arrow keys to navigate and select the option to run Windows in "Safe Mode".


Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.

• Under Main "Select Files to Delete" choose: Select All.
• Click the Empty Selected button.

• If you use Firefox browser click Firefox at the top and choose: Select All
• Click the Empty Selected button.
If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.

• If you use Opera browser click Opera at the top and choose: Select All
• Click the Empty Selected button.
If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.

• Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.


Scan with SUPERAntiSpyware as follows:

• Launch the program and back on the main screen, under "Scan for Harmful Software" click Scan your computer.
• On the left, make sure you check C:\Fixed Drive.
• On the right, under "Complete Scan", choose Perform Complete Scan and click "Next".
• After the scan is complete, a Scan Summary box will appear with potentially harmful items that were detected. Click "OK".
• Make sure everything has a checkmark next to it and click "Next".
• A notification will appear that "Quarantine and Removal is Complete". Click "OK" and then click the "Finish" button to return to the main menu.
• If asked if you want to reboot, click "Yes" and reboot normally.
• To retrieve the removal information after reboot, launch SUPERAntispyware again.
o Click Preferences, then click the Statistics/Logs tab.
o Under Scanner Logs, double-click SUPERAntiSpyware Scan Log.
o If there are several logs, click the current dated log and press View log. A text file will open in your default text editor.
o Please copy and paste the Scan Log results in your next reply.
• Click Close to exit the program.


Scan with Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware as follows:

Double-click and run mbam
• Once the program has loaded, select Perform full scan, then click Scan.
• When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
• Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected. <-- Don't forget this.
• When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location. The log can also be found here: C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\Logs\log-date.txt


Reboot to Normal Mode
