I was modding my friends xbox and when I tried it out it started making this crazy noise. I tried a pot tweak but it didn't help a great deal there were still games that would not load. It makes a very crazy noise like its running too fast sounds like its kind of honking I know someone tampered or attempted to fix it cause there are no screws holding the drive together anything I can do to silence the noise.
Open up the drive and look to see if anything looks abnormal. If the drive was tampered with, that is probably the root of the problem. Personally, I would get a BenQ drive and spoof your key to it. Much more reliable than Hitachi.
