I've searched like a madman and can't find a decent tutorial for this without having to buy some damn Blaster360 crap. I've flashed BenQ's for a couple 360's me and my friends had like nothing using DosFlash and making the iXtreme.bin's with JungleFlasher but I am wondering is there actually a way to flash this Hitachi drive without buying any extra hardware than I have? I got the VIA 6421 Sata card and I thought thats really all I needed but if I do need anything else then please let me know.
just read the JF tutorial on how to flash a hitachi. you dont need the blaster for anything, its a complete waste of money. not sure if you need the connectivity kit (dont think you do, as i never used one when i flashed hitachis a while back). the only thing i know you do need is a compatible chipset, and since you said you have the via card already you should be good to go.
Thats right you dont need the ck3 to flash but you may need a slax disk for hitachi's as jf doesnt always work putting drive into mode b, not for me anyway so i always use slax, i know this works everytime for me!! If its a Hitachi79 you will also need the 79unlock cd
very true, i forgot about that. i havent flashed a hitachi in a long while, back when firmware tool box was used to flash them. but you will need the unlock cb and or slax. there are a couple of versions of slax out there so make sure you get the newest one.
I've just flashed my first Hitachi drive, I've several Lite-On's but I'll have to say flashing the Hitachi was "Easy as Pie" very sweet with JF.
