First of all, congradulation on your site !!!

Long story short I flashed my box around a year ago and everything was fine... After a while my box couldn't read anything (Open Tray, unplayable disc... error) Couldn't even read a movie.

Tried to flash-it back and restored it and didn't work. (I think I might have lost in the process the original keys) so I used the restore feature from IXtreme1.4...

    Old Version of Hitachi v47DJ

Nothing worked, so I proceed on purchasing a new hitachi dvd same model hitachi v47DH. I tried what was said by someone called forahobby how to replace spoof a xbox 360 drive...

Now my xbox do read dvd's so I know the laser is ok but still have the unplayable disc error. Can anyone in-light me?

    baisicly the process said is:

1 to Raw dump the original broken firmware he suggested using 360 firmware tool box version 4.5 (I've used 4.6) as "original.bin" while having a game or movie in the dvd (this mean putting the old dvd drive on mode b etc...)

2Put the replacement hitachi dvd in mode b... and do another raw dump
with the new hitachi dvd drive with a movie or game in it (I used a movie)

Sometime the raw dump didn't work so I used classic dump for step one & 2

3- then I opened the firmware and spoofed it
4- Once the spoof applied I patched it and generated a file named: final.bin then I copy-pasted the key from the old firmware to the new firmware from the "Key Information @" now both my old and new firmware has the same key.

I flashed the drive with the direct drive flash from the firmWare tool box.
The flash was completed ... Can play dvd's but no games...

Can someone please help, my 360 haven't played a game in months...
    Thanks

if your drives are exactly the same, 47 and a 47 just take the MOBO out of the new drive and put it into your old drive and all should be good. however, after reading your entire post over again, im not sure this will work, but its worth a shot.

Hi and thanks for the quick response!

I will try that to night after work!

But can you explain exacly what I need to do? I'm not to sure about:"taking the MOBO out of the new drive and put it into your old drive"

Is there any ways or other firmware else then ixtreem 1.4 to flash my new dvd drive?

Oh by the way yes they are both hitachi V47 but my old one is V47DJ and the new one is V47DH...

The new DVD can read movies but no games...

    Please help!

disregard taking the MOBO out and switching them since they arent identical drives.

iextreme 1.4 is the newest and best for hitachi drives.

so what you need to do now is get your key from your original drive, and flash that to your new drive. then you will be able to use the drive you just bought. otherwise you will have a 400 dollar dvd player.

    Thanks Wabashman,

Since I am not sure if I do have the right Key from the old dvd drive,

Can I do a restore from the ixtreem, take that key and copy it to the new drive?

Should all of that be done with firmware toolbox 4.6?

Can you guide me through the process or send me a link to a guide?

When I first flashed my box a year ago I did it with the help of the textbook with the ixtreem firmware.

Maybe I forgot to do something while trying to patch & flash my new dvd drive...

I would really prefer having a working 360 then a 400$ dvd player lol.

Again thanks for all your help!

    Thanks again,

I will try to find-it here, but again I posted my msg because I couldn't find anything else then this: forahobby how to replace spoof a xbox 360 drive... On another site (you may google it)

I will also repeat the steps provided by forahobby just incase something went wrong with the cpu...

There is similar treads out-there but it's always with another drive... i.e. hitachi v79 or the samsung ... Can I use those tutorial?

In the text book there is a part for the hitachi v47 but it's to flash-it I will look deeper but if ever someone have a clue...

Again I have a new replacement dvd drive that plays movies, but can not read games.

My old hitachi dvd laser just died on me I guess since one day it was working and the next day stop working...

    Thank you all, thanks wabashman!
