If you are NOT in Odessa USSR or this is NOT your IP address then:

    Fix these entries using HiJackThis

    Launch HiJackThis
Click the Do a system scan only button
Put a check next to the entries listed below (if they still remain)

    O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{630C11D4-9B2A-4B26-96CC-A8498F94C5D5}: NameServer = 85.255.112.39,85.255.112.40

    O17 - HKLM\System\CS1\Services\Tcpip\Parameters: NameServer = 85.255.112.39,85.255.112.40

    O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\Parameters: NameServer = 85.255.112.39,85.255.112.40

IMPORTANT: Do NOT click fix until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now
Click the Fix checked button and close HiJackThis

Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune & save it to your desktop. DO NOT use yet.

Please download and install SUPERAntiSpyware Free

    • Double-click SUPERAntiSypware.exe and use the default settings for installation.
    • An icon will be created on your desktop. Double-click that icon to launch the program.
    • If asked to update the program definitions, click "Yes". If not, update the definitions before scanning by selecting "Check for Updates". (If you encounter any problems while downloading the updates, manually download them from here and unzip into the program's folder.)
    • Under the "Configuration and Preferences", click the Preferences... button.
    • Click the "General and Startup" tab, and under Start-up Options, make sure "Start SUPERAntiSpyware when Windows starts" box is unchecked.
    • Click the "Scanning Control" tab, and under Scanner Options, make sure the following are checked (leave all others unchecked):
    o Close browsers before scanning.
    o Scan for tracking cookies.
o Terminate memory threats before quarantining.

    • Click the "Close" button to leave the control center screen and exit the program.
Do not run a scan just yet.

Reboot your computer in "Safe Mode" using the F8 method. To do this, restart your computer and after hearing your computer beep once during startup (but before the Windows icon appears) press the F8 key repeatedly. A menu will appear with several options. Use the arrow keys to navigate and select the option to run Windows in "Safe Mode".

Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.

    • Under Main "Select Files to Delete" choose: Select All.
    • Click the Empty Selected button.

    • If you use Firefox browser click Firefox at the top and choose: Select All
    • Click the Empty Selected button.
If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.

    • If you use Opera browser click Opera at the top and choose: Select All
    • Click the Empty Selected button.
If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.

    • Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.

Note: On Vista, "Windows Temp" is disabled. To empty "Windows Temp" ATF-Cleaner must be "Run as an Administrator".

    Scan with SUPERAntiSpyware as follows:

    • Launch the program and back on the main screen, under "Scan for Harmful Software" click Scan your computer.
    • On the left, make sure you check C:\Fixed Drive.
    • On the right, under "Complete Scan", choose Perform Complete Scan and click "Next".
    • After the scan is complete, a Scan Summary box will appear with potentially harmful items that were detected. Click "OK".
    • Make sure everything has a checkmark next to it and click "Next".
    • A notification will appear that "Quarantine and Removal is Complete". Click "OK" and then click the "Finish" button to return to the main menu.
    • If asked if you want to reboot, click "Yes" and reboot normally.
    • To retrieve the removal information after reboot, launch SUPERAntispyware again.
o Click Preferences, then click the Statistics/Logs tab.
o Under Scanner Logs, double-click SUPERAntiSpyware Scan Log.
o If there are several logs, click the current dated log and press View log. A text file will open in your default text editor.
o Please copy and paste the Scan Log results in your next reply.

    • Click Close to exit the program.

    Reboot to Normal Mode

    Any problems now??

    d21cb, at this point, I don’t have a clue as to what you’re infected with : (

We’ll just have to poke around and see what we can come up with..

    Do this:

Reboot your computer in "Safe Mode" using the F8 method. To do this, restart your computer and before the Windows icon appears press the F8 key repeatedly. A menu will appear with several options. Use the arrow keys to navigate and select the option to run Windows in "Safe Mode with Networking".

Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your desktop.

Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
    • At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
    • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
    • Once the program has loaded, select Perform full scan, then click Scan.
    • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected. <-- Don't forget this.
    • When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location. The log can also be found here: C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\Logs\log-date.txt

    • Please post the MBAM Log and a fresh HJT log in your next reply.

    d21cb,

Those faded icons and folders are hidden and system files that you have turned on in the folder view options.. DO NOT poke around or delete any of them UNLESS YOU KNOW WHAT YOUR’RE DOING!! You can hose your machine, in a heart beat….

I’m working 12 and 14 hr shifts for the next few days and won’t be able to post anything until Sunday or Monday so please just hang in there and we will get you fixed….

    d21cb,

Reformat/reinstall is a “Last Resort”. Let’s see if we can correct your situation, first.

I hate Vista…. It’s M$’s big failure. Windows 7 will be out soon to correct Vista but, M$ will want you to pay for it in order to correct their mistakes….. Sad!

I have a beta version of Win 7 installed, and love it. I’ll not pay for it when the final version comes out (I’ve been a geek too long for that, lol)

Let’s see if we can clear your problems with a little Bigger Gun!

Do the following exactly as stated:

    1. Download Combo fix from one of these locations.
    * IMPORTANT !!! Place combofix.exe on your Desktop

    http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe
    http://subs.geekstogo.com/ComboFix.exe

    2. Click start > run and Copy and Paste this in exactly, using the picture below for reference, then click OK.

    3. Combo will begin to run DO NOTHING while this is happening.
    • It will kill a few processes and disconnect you from the internet.
    • If by chance it stops prematurely you can re-establish your internet connection by restarting your computer.
    • This needs to be done so the program can work most efficiently for you.
Do not attempt to use the internet or anything else while it's doing its job for you.

**Understand that things like your system clock changing and your desktop disappearing might happen. Do not worry, because all will be restored later.

If when it's completed you can not get on the internet just reboot the computer

Post the log from comboFix for me located in
    c:\comboFix.txt

2oG (that’s 2 as in twice, little o as in not too old, and Geek with a Capital “G” as in been there, done that..)

Just so I can understand; how can you run the programs if you have no OS?
