    Hi,

I have a HP Pavilion dv8305ca Entertainment Notebook with the above CD/DVD drive installed. Recently I produced a slide show with ProShow Gold but am having endless problems replaying the disc produced on the computer - any disc produced with the same show plays on other PCs fine but the audio and video are both distorted and choppy on playback on my computer.

I have tried so many things software related including installing more codecs on my system but the problem still persists. What I have now realized is that any disc produced on my computer, audio/video, using the various burning programs I have installed plays back in the same distorted way but plays fine in other systems.

Should I try uninstalling and then reinstalling my drive? If so where can I find the driver?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

I have this same drive, 3years of heavy use and still going strong (touch wood). Try Nero's CD-DVD Speed program - http://www.cdspeed2000.com/download.html and use the ScanDisc tab to check one of those troublesome discs for errors...

Thanks Creaky... Took your advice but the discs showed no errors. Where can I find the driver for the device so I can uninstall and reinstall it to see if that helps because every CD/DVD I create has a playback problem on my system but plays well on other systems.
