I recently downgraded my vista to xp for no good reason. But I get an unknow device. I think it is the hl dt st dvdram gsa t20n. Please help me.
There is no reason that a DVD-ROM shouldn't be recognized by Windows XP. Does the DVD-ROM show up in the CD/DVD drive section of device manager? If you unplug the DVD drive does the unknown device go away? Have you installed ALL the drivers required by your motherboard? Did you install XP from that drive? I'm betting that it isn't the DVD Drive unless you really 'hosed" the install.
hi. mine is acer aspire 2920 laptop. once purchased, the seller downgraded to windows xp (sp2). Now i'm having problems with the dvd drive (HL-DT-ST-DVDRAM GSA-T20N). Though it can read/play the dvd rw disk (only if the disk has datas) but if i insert with blank dvd rw disk, the system read it has cd rw disk and when i try to write files to the dvd rw, error msg pop-ups saying that the files can't be written to this dvd rw... that it recognise it as cd rw. What should i do?
