I say it's possible. I'm using just the regular cable wire to connect from the main reciever box to the TV Tuner's tuner, and though I can't get the channels on Channel 3 like it's set on default on most TV's, I get all the channels on Channel 116 for some odd reason, the TV is in black and white and there appears to be no color.

Using WinTVR, in NTSC so it can't be that. Wondering if there might be another channel I get the dish, cept maybe with color or somethin?
Channel 3 shows nothing, except some static and a picture in the background. Where Am I going wrong?

You have to use the video 1 or video 2 input on a tv, that has those inputs, using red & white analog rca cables for audio, and yellow rca cable, or s-video, for the video.

A tv's regular tuner can't handle a satellite signal, with the 75 ohm, RG-6 coax cable, without a satellite receiver, to down convert the digital signal to analog. Not even a cable ready tv. That's why the tv's tuner stays on Video 1 input for digital, and channel 3 for analog, and you change channels with the satellite receiver. I'm not good at explaining this kind of thing.

I'm surprised you're getting it as good as you are, the way you are. But you can't really hope for any better, without a satellite receiver.

Ok, no real experience with a tv tuner card.
But unless it's a card that is built for satellite reception, I think it's still gonna be a problem.

When you get a satellite system, it comes with a satellite receiver, because a tv tuner can't handle a satellite signal. A tv tuner is a tv tuner, whether in a tv or in a computer. If your card has the inputs, for the satellite, and the ability to change from tuner to video 1 input, you should be able to do it. Otherwise, I don't see how you can do it............

Simple, I'm using the reciever as a converter, thats how satellite on a TV works, you plug in Sat to reciever, then reciever to TV, the same should apply to my computer, don't know why it's going nuts on me...

Ok, sorry. I didn't realize you were using a sat receiver. I re-read your first post, and see now you mentioned it. Don't know how I missed that to start with.

Have you gone to the Device Manager, and double clicked on your video card, to see if there's a box to check or something? Nothing in the card's software to change from tuner to Video 1 or L1 or something similar, huh? Sorry, but I don't know what else to tell you.
Send an email to the manufacturer of your card. They should be able to help...........
    Good luck!

    HI
I AM USING DISH SAT TO MY MEDIA CENTER. I CAN GO EITHER DIRECT COAX TO MY TUNER OR ANOTHER OPTION WOULD BE USING A VCR IN BETWEEN FOR RED YELLOW WHITE HOOKUP. MAKE SURE TUNER CARD AND SAT CAN ACCEPT SAME CHANNEL INPUT FROM SAT. I HAVE TWO RECVRS ONE IS ON CHANNEL 3 THE OTHER IS CHANNEL 73. MY COMP TV TUNER WON'T ACCEPT CHANNEL 73 FOR AN INPUT CHANNEL. HOPE IT HELPS
