I got my email for the home beta. How nice of Sony! Here's what the email looks like if you're curious.

Dear PLAYSTATION®Network User,

Thank you for downloading the PLAYSTATION®Home Theme! You have been selected to help beta test the next phase of PlayStation®Home's evolution.

As a Beta Tester, you will be expected to help shape the PLAYSTATION®Home experience by providing feedback and submitting to us any issues you may find. We appreciate your help in making the PLAYSTATION®Home experience the best it can be!

In addition, you can now access the PLAYSTATION®Home Beta feedback website. Here you can access the forums and communicate with other Beta testers, or fill out a problem report form. In the problem report, you can outline any problems you experienced with the Beta, and let us know of any great ideas you have for new features.

To get access to these great beta tools, simply sign in using your PlayStation.com account email address* and password and create a Message Board Handle (if you don't already have one). If you do not yet have a PlayStation.com account, just follow the prompts to register and create your Message Board Handle.

How to download
After you have signed in with your PLAYSTATION®Network Account, select [Account Management] on the XMB™ (XrossMediaBar) interface located under the "PLAYSTATION®Network" tab, then select [Transaction Management] and click on the option [Redeem PLAYSTATION®Network Card or Promotion Code]. Enter the following unique code to start the download of PLAYSTATION®Home Closed Beta Client:

Please note: The unique code is case sensitive and must be entered exactly as displayed. Only the PSN Online ID associated with this email address will be able to access the PLAYSTATION®Home Closed Beta. Please review and accept the terms and conditions associated with the PLAYSTATION®Home Closed Beta.

Just Dl'ed the theme. Seems that who ever DL's it, submits a request to join to.

I doubt I'll get chosen but what the hell.

If worse comes to worst you will be your source of information...

 

And where do you download it from? I logged onto the PSN and went into the Theme section and nothing there. Or does it only appear there if you were selcted to beta test? Or is the beta only available in the US?

 

I registered as a US user so that might be your problem, although Im not sure.

On the side Main Page of the PSN it should show the Top DLs. I found it there. Other then that Im not sure, Im sure you looked in the theme section.

On Thursday, August 28, 2008 Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) will begin an Expanded
PlayStation(R) Home Beta. SCEA will be adding users weekly (starting 8/28/08 ) and continue up to the
start of the Open PlayStation(R)Home Beta.

Weekly basis...maybe next week I Guess.

So this email that you got. Was this sent to the e-mail address that you use to sign in to the PSN or did you just log in to your PSN account and there was a message waiting there for you??

 

Its a bummer I didnt get selected... yet . A big thumbs up for the info.

 

No there was no message, it was only on my email. They send you a code and you input it through transaction management just as you would have if you got the MGS4 beta in the days of wayback. You get a 12 digit code that only works on your PSN account and type it in and the download starts.
