home network workgroup

hi i hve a home network set up i want to share my dvd drive on my network so my dad can acces it from his computer i shared it but then on windows explorer i find my computer in the workgroup and try to open it to gt to the dvd drive but windows comes with an error saying his computer dosent have provlages to acces my computer even though i shared the drive and allow other users to change the files what is goin on someone help soon

 

Did you take his computer through the setup for adding it to the network?

 

yes i did

 

Do you have a firewall, you may need to setup this up to allow sharing rescources, I have been going through a similar problem with norton firewall and my home network.
