I have recently attempted to create a home network, having one pc connect through another pc to the internet. I have done this before with the same pc's, but for some reason, this time the LAN on the 2nd pc is flashing orange. Both pc's can connect individually using a USB connection to the cable modem, but the LAN on the Dell GX270 is always orange or yellow. Could anyone advise why this may occur. the cables and LAN connection are both fine, its just after I reinstalled windows pro sp2 this appears to have happened.

    Thanks

Not sure if this is posted in the correct area, if not, if someone could please advise.

you may have the wrong cable. you need a crossover cable to link 2 computer directly to each other. you may be using a standard patch cable which would explain the orange lights and lack of connectivity
