i just bought a laptop from a friend recently. hes pretty good with computers so its a trustworthy item. i hooked up my external hard drive to it when it booted up and there was a message saying that the laptop was accessing my external hard drive and something about a 'dirty volume' and it was doing some type of scan to get rid of the bad data i guess. anyway, i was able to access all my files so it didnt harm anything. however, when i disconnected the external hard drive and plugged it back into my regular desktop, at first it said i didnt have permissions. however the second time i clicked it let me in, but its asking me to choose the type of program i want to open this file, but its not a file, its my E: drive and it would usually just open on my computer like a regular hard drive and have all the folders with my videos and stuff already inside. i want both the laptop and desktop to have equal access to that drive. how do i fix the problem?
