hello, i need some help setting up my 360/ps3 wired.

I currently have been trying to figure out a way to be able to sign on xbox live and ps3 online without having to unplug my modem and stick it into my ps3 or 360 and have to sign offline just to be able to play on either one.

I'm currently trying to use a Linksys Etherfast 10/100 workgroup switch.

Now as I was told, your supposed to do the following

    1. Plug the modem cord into the slot on the back that says Uplink. Did that

    2. Plug in the PC cord into the far left #1 slot. Did That

    3. Plug 360/ps3 cord into the 2nd slot on the left by the PC cord. Did that

All the lights are turned on on the Linksys, indicating they're all being picked up, but here are my problems for both systems when trying to connect wired.

    XBOX 360:

When trying to connect to Xbox Live i run the test that it always does and then the first option says its Wired and then it searches for a few minutes and next to the option ''Internet Connection'' it says FAILED.

    Playstation 3:
Pretty much the same thing, it either fails for the IP address or gives me the DNS error(even after i use the DNS address from OpenDS.com)

Think anyone can help me? I'm completely stumped as to why its not working, im a noob at this type of stuff so any help would be greatly appreciated

You will need to have a network conifgured to use a setup such as that. Just get a router, plug the modem into that, and it distributes the signal out of the four ports and you can run it into ps3, 360, computer, etc. You would need to manual set up IP addresses for the systems running it like this I believe. I use a router for my setup and everything is wired and it was 100% plug and play.
