I currently have a Pioneer 520h hdd/dvd recorder. I am trying to hook it up to my system which has a Comcast HD STB (Motorola), Sony LCD TV and a Yamaha receiver. My question is can anyone give some detailed instructions on the proper hookup? I have it hooked up currently and it will play dvd's but I cannot record anything. I am not even sure it can be done through the STB, but I think it should! I have tried various ways to hook it up of which none have produced any recordings off of the STB.

Any guidance would greatly appreciated as I am about to remove it from that TV and put it in the bedroom where there is no STB just a straight cable to the back of the TV. But I really would rather have this Pioneer in the family room.

    Thanks in advance.

Did you ever solve this? I have a Sony DVD recorder that worked fine. When I upgraded to Comcast HD it stopped recording from the TV even when I am not receiving an HD signal. I get audio, but no video. I'm also running through a Yamaha AV receiver.
