I've been encoding a fair number of xvid videos recently, but they all seem to have the same problem.

When I view it on a higher resolution screen, like my computer monitor, there are a TON of horizontal artifacts. It's kinda like a pixelated motion blur. It's not a problem on slow or static scenes, but with a bit of movement, it's quite bad.

On my standard resolution TV and projector, I can't see it at all.

I don't have this problem with xvids that I downloaded from the web, so this is telling me that I'm probably using the wrong settings? I haven't touched the xvid settings, other than to fiddle with bitrate...A5 @ L5 at 1500kbps is what I used on my last encode.

Any suggestions? Or is there a guide that tells me exactly what settings to use? Most guides go into technical detail about each setting and, as a result, doesn't help at all.
