Hi there. Recently, my hard drive started to turn off and back on while playing music, watching movies, and such. The drive would spin...stop...and then start again...making me restart. Of course...being the idiot that I am I picked up my computer about 6 inches and slammed it to the ground(kinda like when I punched a hole in my wall cuz PS2 online wasnt working) Then....hard drives problem started. My Comp *detects* the hard drive...it says "WDC --SABRE--" Notice the SABRE instead of model number. Also...it detects it as a 12.4 Gig instead of an 80Gig and does not boot. Tried installing windows again...says I cannot write to the drive or something like that. Is there any way to fix this or am I done for???? THANK YOU VERY MUCH!
Time to call a repair shop or at least open the case and see what damaged yeah caused by throwing it.
get a new hd to hopefully copy your info off the sick hd. try reseating all the cables to see if improves situation or not
Yeah im just getting a new hard drive cuz my dad needs the comp for e-mail and stuff neways so im good. I'll survive with the library comps for this week tho
And yeah I opened one HD before with a Phillips screw Driver even tho the HD didnt have phillips screws...but this one is impossible to oipen without buying some crazy screwdrivers. Maybe I'll p9ck some up at my RadioShack tho. It would be amazing If i could fix it. But heck no im not getting it to the store cuz thats too frickin expensive.
