well thank u all , i ran Vobblanker in Backround and used shrink to get just the movie, my problem was that it was NOT showing the main movie .. it was a sector problem ... but thanks again , it was Piss*ing me off soo bad ! and i started gettting scared that my DVDs i buy won't back up... b/c it is sony , but i found a way to backup my own legaly purchesed dvd. im soo releved. i was not going to even buy them if i could not back them up, anyone Agree?
@faperes Are you using the latest AnyDVD - 5.9.5.6? This should work with Shrink. For CloneDVD you'll need to download it (free 21 day trial) from Slysoft. Power calibration can be caused by the blank DVD being used. So let's start there. Which brand are you using? @sideways2 Well here are your options buy AnyDVD (very doubtful you would regret this purchase) or rip w/ DVD Fab decrypter as stated above. For all those having problems with this movie that don't have AnyDVD - use Alkohol's guide for dvfab decrypter/vobblanker method (both are free). Recode can be replaced with shrink (also free). The latest version of AnyDVD with handle this movie with CloneDVD or Shrink. I have used both.
The problem I had burning "Hostel" with AnyDVD and CloneDVD2 was freezing at the end of the burn. In another forum, it was suggested changing the size in the 2nd screen "quality" box from "DVD-5" to Custom "4300". It worked
I agree with ponch1 & cujo007. Just get anyDVD & cloneDVD!! It's well worth it. They're constantly updated along with the new protections. Going thru all the free programs & getting frustrated when they don't work is a waste of time. These 2 together will burn most movies with no problems. If they don't work with this one, which in my case they didn't, then just use the latest version of dvdfab decrypter to rip it to your hard drive, and burn it with Nero. Simple as that! Problem solved, disc backed up. No need to use vobblanker, pgcedit, or fixvts as fab removes the bad sector protection, unless you want to use them to take out the previews, warning screen etc. I'm not a big fan of shrink and it's not updated anymore anyway. And I think the reason why Clone & anydvd doesn't work for everyone has something to do with the type of drive used and the arrcos protection on Sony dics.
What are you guys using to make it shrink enough to fit on a 4.7gig dvd? I have ran it through shrink 2x and its still at 6.2 gigs.
Yes, it is true that HOSTEL has the latest protections encrypted from Sony's ARccOS (puppet), it has some fake structural and fake pgc as well, but it simply is just another piece of cake. As usual, DVDFAB Decrypter (FREE) + VobBlanker (FREE) is flawless and of course the rest is history. Easy as smokin' and sippin' on a Corona. In summary: DVDFAB Decrypter - 12 minutes to rip VobBlanker - 5 minutes to process and blank out other craps (FBI Warnings, rating logos/screens, unwanted previews/trailers, etc.) Best of lucks to all and happy burning.
My friend just finished his copy with no problems. He used fab/blanker/shrink and says it works fine also.
I used DVD Decrypter with AnyDVD (running in back ground) and DVD Shrink no problems a good back-up copy.
Does the movie Hostel have subtitles that pop up during the movie to translate other languages? I watched a backup of the disc and it did not have any. thanks
