Ok, I see a ton of Hostel threads and I am having a problem too. However, I can backup Hostel(Widescreen /Unrated) but when it is being played it skips and then finally freezes in about the 5th chapter and it is the same issue on a couple of players I have tried. I am using Verbatim lightscribe +R, burned at max speed 8x, I believe.

I have tried a few ways.

    1. DVD Fab (Updated 2 days ago), DVD Shrink w/Nero Burn
    2. DVD Fab (Updated 2 days ago), DVD Shrink w/DVD Decrypter Burn

Then the same 2 ways listed above but between DVD Fab & DVD Shrink, I used VobBlanker, following Alkohol's guide, might I add, is a really nice & easy guide to follow(thanks)!

Anybody having this sort of problem and if so, how did you get it to work?

Also, I read that some people believe the source disk is bad, I have not ever had that issue, but I am willing to go back to the store I bought the disk at and exchange for another one, if you guys believe that could be the case?!?!

I used AnyDVD and CloneDVD2 and it came out great! I am watching it now starting from the 4th chapter just to see if it skips
............ well it went to the 6th chapter and no skipping! I only use Taiyo Yuden disks and they have never failed me yet! Over 1000 burns with them now!

most of the times if you find skippy or pixelations it's due to the media being burned...... Verbatim is supposed to be a great media. try burning at 4X instead of 8x! you should always burn at half the rated speed of the disk........ at least that's what I've been told.

Ok, I will try doing it at 4x and see if that works. The funny thing is I tried playing the ISO file on my computer and that works fine. So I will try at half the speed and we will see! Thanks for the advice!

Taiyo Yuden I have never seen these in stores where do you purchase them? and I saw they sell a few different kind which do you buy? I have been using verbatim dvd+r media for a long time with total success just wanted to try something else if they were better.

Taiyo Yuden disks, like great treasures are hidden behind different manufacturers name brands, Like Sony, Fuji. What to look for, first Taiyo Yuden are made in Japan, most Fuji 8X disks made in Japan are TYG-02 disks, Sony disks,8X Made in Japan (MIJ) are usually TYG-02, Sony 16X MIJ with the octagonal spacer are TYGG03> here is a link to Doc Ty's immense base of knowledge concerning these fine disks. I myself now will only burn TY and Verbatim disks, no cheap media for me.
