It used to take me less then an hour to burn a dvd. Lately it has taken hours, maybe 18 hours. My computer keeps telling me that I am low on virtual memory. I have no idea why. I haven't installed any new software or deleted anything. Just one day it started acting up. Everything takes longer to do. Can anyone help me? I tried to do what little I know, short of throwing the computer out the window, I'm stuck.

in addition to ddp's reply, check/fix your DMA settings like this - http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/DMA.html Also, download Nero info-tool from here - http://www.snapfiles.com/get/neroinfo.html Run it, note down the following, and paste here. Here's what mine shows - click on the drive tab, note down the drive name & firmware version Let's check media - download dvdinfopro (free) and run one of those discs thru dvdinfo's media info check, pasting the details here
It took Nero forever to encode to the hard drive the first time I used my burner. The problems later went away all by themselves. This doesn't really help though, everything has been said by ddp and creaky.
i s'pose i could use "don't buy crappy media" or "buy Verbatims" but they haven't got the same ring to them
