I create my home video footage by transcoding my .avi files through TMPGEnc (I think this creates mpeg2 files ?).

I have backed them up to DVD using Nero backup (in case of disk crash / dvd fails etc) .
However, I wondered if its easier to just click and drag them onto dvd rw or dvd r disks ?
I guess the beauty of of using Nero is it will allow me to copy several files to a DVD-r , where click and drag may let me only copy one then close the disk ?

    Any advice welcome. Thanks.

Other than using software to make your backups (like Nero) you could go the route of using the Windows option. When a blank disc is inserted on a Windows PC, you can do the drag and drop in explorer and save them to a disc of choice.

I just save mine to disc in a compressed format if need be by use of WinRAR, and windows drag and drop. I've also used external hard drives...but obviously you're concerned about the hdd failing which makes sense. Oter than software, above is the only thing I can think of.

Thanks teCHnique. I might consider using an external hardisk as a backup mode rather than keep using DVD's.
I do keep the originals on my pc.
