How can I burn a two-part video file as one DVD image?

Ok, I'll try to be as clear as possible.

I am trying to burn a two part video file to a DVD-R. You know, the first half of is like CD1 and the second half is like CD2. The video file put together is about two hours long or so.

I found the following guide here, and followed it exactly:

I did just that, and after the process of creating the ISO image was complete, I ended up with two different ISO images. I the followed the link at the end of the above guide, and proceded to follow the following guide to help me actually burn the DVD-R:

After doing so, it did work, but not how I want it to be. I now have the video file on two seperate DVD-R discs, but what I want is for the entire video file to be on a single DVD-R.

What do I need to do to get to where I need to be? Thanks a lot guys!

 

I would also like to know the answer to this. I have tried to convert the files together from avi or other format to dv-r. To possibly make 1 file insted of 2 but it does't work

 

to merge 2 or more avi's together,just load them in on top of each other

try using vso's dvixtodvd,it will take more than 1 at a time
select the first avi from source,then the second,
it will convert both into 1 ts folder,which you then burn to dvd

job done

btw,i think vso's will take up to 3 avi's in one go

if you have 2 cd images (i.e bins),you need to extract the mpegs's from them
for this you will need isobuster
open up the first cd bin image,and it will give you a list of folders
source "MPEG",..right click on it,and select "extract and filter mpeg2 only",or something worded like that,
put this in a folder on the desktop,....

do this for the second bin image,keeping them separate

so you now have 2 folders,each with there on files (cd1,cd2)..

now you can load them into which app' you prefer,straight on top of each other.
BTW,i have found when extracting mpeg's from bin images DVIXTODVD will NOT accept the files,and i have to use nerovision express,but the process is the same,just add the video files right on top of each other

 

A few more questions:

Can you not load two AVIs at the same time using AVItoDVD? I see that you can add more than one job at a time (to create more than one SEPARATE ISO images), but I don't see how I can load two different AVIs (part 1 and part 2 of a single video file) so that once you burn the DVD ISO image, it plays without a break.

The video I'm trying to burn also has subtitles for each part, so I need something that will allow me to do that. Since AVItoDVD is so easy to use, I'm hoping I can do what I want with that program. I don't see where I can add subtitles and the such when using DivxToDVD.

Keep in mind, for me personally I'm dealing with two separate video files right now, not images in which I need to extract said video before I can use it.

not sure you can add 2 or move files with avi2dvd,i dont use it,i used it once,and the app' was full of bugs,
just give it a go and see

 

Ok, I don't see any way for it to be possible, which takes me to square one. Here is my question now:

How would I, and what programs would I use, to take a two part video file (CD1 and CD2) and burn them to a single DVD disc as a single video file, and then along with all of that, put subtitles on the DVD?

I can burn the video file to DVD with subtitles using Avi2dvd, but since the initial video is in two parts, I end up having to creat two different DVDs.

I can use DivxtoDVD to put the entire film onto a single DVD, but using that program I can't put the subtitles on the DVD

That's where I'm at now, heh.

 

you can burn the 2 sets of files on 1 dvd,but as for creating a menu for these at the same time,i am not sure on that score

 

I know I can put the two files on one DVD, using divxtodvd, but using that method I can't actually put subtitles on the DVD.

With avi2dvd I can put subtitles, but I can't put both parts of the video on the same DVD.

If I'm wrong about either of this, then please let me know.

How do I burn two images to a single DVD though? All the programs I'm using to burn only allow me to pick one file.

 

just burn a multi session disk with nero

 

do you have nero, if you do use nerovision express, with that its simple when you add the files to be transcoded add both of them in the order you want them to appear on the disc, hit go and the jobs a good un, takes a while with nero tho

 

2) In avi mode if you have an avi/mkv/ogm with
parts cd1, cd2, cd3... you can load as unique avi
renaming the avis like this :
Matrix CD1.avi
Matrix CD2.avi
Matrix CD3.avi
etc...
renaming your files like this avi2dvd will join these avis
automatically and wil produce an unique film .
This is valid also for ogm/mkv.

also film machine is like avi2dvd and does subs ans does mutiple files ;-])

 

okay, since the video file is in 2 parts, CD1 and CD2, I am guessing it must be a video CD that contains .bin and .cue files.

first you need to download a program called VCD2DVDMPG v.1.1, with it you will be able to change the bin and cue files to mpg format.

Then, you need to batch the video files together. I use WinAVI. It's very easy and extremely handy (it also converts from various video formats to other video formats). For best results, when batch converting to DVD format, select the highest quality setting. The resulting video file(s) may be larger then 4.35gb (standard DVD size). If that is the case use DVD Shrink to shrink the file into an DVD ISO image.

Burn with DVD decrypter.

 

Just one thing to clear up the easy way is to use VSO dvxtodvd.

If the Subtitles are aready on the AVIs' they will be transfered to the resulting DVD.

So the easy way is run them through dvxtodvd and burn. with the burner of you choice.

I use a shrink and nero combination, because I like it.

And sometimes compression is needed.

The choice of burner is yours

use cucusoft avi to mpeg, and cucusoft dvd authour, two good progs..
if they are bin and cue files cd 1 and cd 2, use iso buster to extract the mpeg files and send them to ( eg. documents ) you should then have to mpeg files which you can check by watching them.. you then use your cucusoft avi to mpeg to get the two mpeg files, then its says merge or batch , merge the two files then press convert.. ( few hours later ) you should have one big file... then use the dvd authour to convert the file in to vob files which dont take long.. then use dvd shrink or whateva to copy the vob files on disc .. one complete film is yours

i have tested cucusoft encoder (plus others) and dont rate it for quailty, there are better apps about that are free too...

 

can you tell me them please, and do they take long to do, a film is takin a bout 2 hrs

all depends really want you got and where you want to get to?

avi / mepg use divxtodvd which will give you vob/ifo/bup for burning.

hour or so for this app, you can load multiple files at once to make one film

avi2dvd is a grea app aswell as film machine they have built in encoders or you can use CCE, i use CCE a pro app

time span about 3 hours, but check this i put an mpeg4 avi in one end and when it came out the other as an iso with avi2dvd the quilty was spot on the same! i couldnt tell the difference...

and dont forget guys avi > mpeg2 > vobs/dvd is 2 losses of quality!

I cannot seem to load two avi files using avi2dvd. I have named the two avi files as cd1.avi and cd2.avi but avi2dvd doesnt allow me to load more than 1 avi file?

Am I doing something wrong?
