So I get a lot of movie xvid/divx files and sometimes when I play them on my Phillips dvd/divx player, the video is all messed up. It shows colorful blocks of blue and pink all over the video. The audio works fine and half the picture is good but those dang blocks. Anyways...when I get these files they say xvid/divx on them but some of them play funny. Is there a program I can use to go thru my entire library of files and sort out the ones that would work with my dvd/divx player and ones that dont? I could just stick the dvd in my player but it would take forever for each one. I have the files on my computer.
Have you proved that it isn't a media problem by copying one of the 'bad' files from the PC to a different brand (Verbatim for choice) and burning the file at a moderate (4x) speed.
there're tools that can detect the stuff. but i usually use ffdshow and turn on the osd. gmc, qpel is bad. and check for max resolution the player can handle. of course newer player can handle the more advance stuff, no problem. its a matter of your machine.
