I was originally running my regular ethernet cable from one room, 3 doors down, and into the office for my connection. But then I got my own Computer to put in my room which is connected to the old computer using a wireless adapter. I have a custom made crossover cable a friend made me running from either of my xbox's to my Computers ethernet port. I cannot connect to xbox live or FTP. I will accept help for either modded or unmodded dashboards, for I have two boxes to be connected. (both would be great.)
sigh, u all suck. i figured it out. i just ran both cables and the xbl one went back to were it was b4. its still a pain in the ass though to switch cables and waste 15 minutes just getting back on xbl from ftp`ing a new mod just to find out i did it wrong and have to do it all again.
Wow, that's not gonna stand here man, you can't put down the people who help you. Sorry if we can't answer your simple question. If you googled basic networking you would see exactly what you need... But i'll lay it out for you because your so impatient. You need a router.... A router will take the one ip address from your modem and multiply it so it sends out many ip addresses. XBL uses a DHCP ip address, when you use a crossover cable you are only transfering the ip address or signal to another computer. So there's no confusion i'll map it out for you ______|Computer| |modem|-----|router|-<______ |Xbox| This way both of the devices will get their own dhcp ip address and both can access the internet at the same time. You can also buy a wireless router, though transfer times will be longer using a wireless connection.
oh, sorry man, i didn't mean it offensively. sarcasm doesn't really show in text... like punching your friend in the arm, you arent trying to fight, just messing around. i'll watch my words next time. thanks for the help though.
