    I use EAC.

    @ olyteddy
Have you ever used EAC? Just curious if you have and why you prefer CDEx over it or any others for that matter. I am always open to upgrading if there is a big reason why it is better. Thanks.

Years ago I used EAC, and liked it fine but it was a bit flaky with my drive/mobo combo. It also didn't find a lot of the CDs I have to fill the tags. That's when I started using CDEx and since it did a good job I haven't tried EAC again. I also sometimes use WinAmp Pro because it gets its tag data from CDDB or GraceNote, both a little more thorough than FREEDB.

I am always behind the times as well. I figure if something works well why change.

Actually I still use PowerAmp but I will down grade to EAC when my yearly subscription lapses. By that time I will not be ripping much. My decision to down grade was made when EAC started using Accurip. The tag info database PowerAmp uses had about 99% of what I rip while freeDB only had about 25%. I will pay the 25USD per year not to type in a hundred sets of tags. I am also doing format conversions. I will be sure to have that finished before I drop my subscription.

I will say this is my third year with PA and I have not had one problem that I have recognized. $75 is cheap for that level of quality for the quanity I was working with. I am very picky as to what I listen to. Defects and poor audio annoy me. They spoil the ambiance the music is supposed to provide.
