I downloaded a movie that has a 7 day rental attached to it. i can play it in my home dvd player 7 times and it will expire on the cd i made. is there any way to remove the encoding or protection that looks on the internet at my rental so i can play the movie forever and copy it to a cd or dvd to watch on home player as much as i like?

    thanks,
    chris

where did you download it from
I cant see how a movie on a cd can possibly be play or time limited becuase there is no way of adding information to the burnt cd I think you may have just agreed to the terms that you would delete it after 7 days

Well presumably DivX certified players have some kind of internal database or something that keeps track.

More info about VOD DivX here: https://vod.divx.com/

Don't think anyone has bothered breaking DivX DRM yet. Removing it wouldn't be legal anyway. It is the equiv of copying a rental DVD before returning it instead of buying the DVD.
