    I have moved my cable box from NW England (TW) to London (CW) on a temporary basis. I still have a subbed box in my new location and am happily (well - almost) paying for that but cannot get my *spare* vgn box to decode. Is this the nature of the beast - that it can only work where it was originally subbed?

    We cannot discuss boxes that belong to cable companies on the site, sorry.

    So if you are saying that you have brought a box belonging to v*rgin etc with you, sorry can't help you, if you are saying you brought a starview or something else like that all you have to do is change provider id and rescan the channels.

    Many thanks for the reply
    Yep; it is a genuine VGN box that I do legitimately own, sub to and will use as per when I move back north soon. I will continue to use one of my EVXs as the secondary box in the meantime. Thanx again for the response; at least I know an avenue is closed here ;-). CYA

    If you contact VM and tell them you have these boxes as long as they are YOURS from previous addresses they will configure them to work at your new address but they will then charge you (i think) an extra 5er a month for them EACH.

    I have just read this from another well known forum and I will not back this up but it's the only info I have to hand about this.

    All the best.

    Evening Eva ;)

    @HiTeck
    Yep - you are right. VGN will re jig a previous legit box brought from another location. They have offered that for the monthly sub (which you mentioned) They will even fully cable up the new installation free of charge just to get their additional monthly *rental*
    I wonder what would happen if you subbed for a year then cancelled - would they just leave the additional box in situ like they normally do. My guess is that they would.
    I just can't work out why you see them on *eBay* if you need a friendly engineer to come and validate it :-/
    Thanks for the input HiTeck... CYA :-]
