How can I hook my home theater up to my PC while still having it connect to my TV?

I only have a simple 2.1 audio setup in my computer and I have a 5.1 setup for TV.

Is it possible to have the TV setup run through the computer and the TV?

Hope you guys can help me out!

Depends on what sort of inputs your home theater has. Personally, I have a couple of systems hooked up to my TV. One goes from DVI out to HDMI in, and the other is straight HDMI. My TV also has a connection for VGA.

You'll need a sound card capable of 5.1 surround, with a digital output (digital coax or optical). You'll also need a video card with an output for the tv. Your software dvd player will have to support 5.1 surround. I never did find a free one. I use WinDVD. But my computer is a stand alone home theater, in another room. My main HT is in the living room.

As was said before. It also depends on if your A/V receiver has an extra digital input, you can use, to plug your sound card into. It's a little involved to set it all up.............
