how can I identify what mod chip I have?

    I bought a mod chip for a buddy of mine over a year ago and I forgot what kind he has. I need to find out what kind it is so I can flash it to the latest version of the bios. The main problem I am having is that I cannot connect to the network with the mod chip on. If I turn the mod chip off then it works fine. I believe it is an executer 3. Please help.
