I have downloaded the various emulators and placed them in my m3 ds simply, but I am still unable to play any .nes games or .smc games, how do I convert these to play on my DS?

you first run the emulator, then after that you select the nes rom.

Yes I kept all the files in the same place with the emulator, and I understand how to run it, I can play the roms fine on the computer, but not on my DS. The files & emulator don't even show on the Nintendo DS. Don't I need to convert the files somehow to .nds?

the emulator file should be a nds. file already. you run the emulator like you would for any other game.
