    @tibosee, you should not have any trouble with the new DL12 firmware, I too have an LG GSA-4167B drive & I update mine out of the box. Works perfect with DL12. Where did you get the new firmware? And, is it a Retail Drive? I update mine from LGs site. You can go back to DL11, but DL10 is not available. Here's a Link to LG's Site. Go to driver downloads, DVD-ROM drives (writers) and you'll find it. Be SURE you follow LG's instructions on updating your firmware to the letter & it should be fine. Here's the link.

    My drive is bulk, and i updated the firmware right after i bought it,from dl10 to dl12. I've noticed that when i try to copy a cd, whith a lot of files on it,(not a movie), the drive slows down to 8x and makes a noise at every file copied.it's seeking speed (i guess) it's very, very slow.I can copy a cd in 12 min,like a dvd. i only got problems with cd's not with dvd's. My ASUS 5232AS cd-rw, works perfectly with same cd's. In 3 minutes the cd is done copied.

    I also tried with dl11, but the problem remains the same.I need dl10.Can i go with the drive at the warranty, and tell them about the problem?I think the drive is not functioning as it should,maybe is damaged. bunnyrip, do you have the same problem withs cd's?

    No,I don't have that problem with CDs. You may want to try a different brand blank CD-R. If that doesn't work, you may want to give LG Tech Support a call. They are very helpful & nice.

    @tibosee,
    My Retail LG GSA-4167B has DL12 firmware from LG's site. It works Flawlessly with DVD & CD media. However, I use High Quality Media. I don't know where you got your firmmware & HOW you updated it, but this drive is SWEET! WITH the DL12 firmware. I DO know that LG does not recommend updating firmware on "OEM" drives. Call them at LG & I am sure they'll help you out with your issue.

    i got my firmware from lg site, i had no problem when i updated it. it's not an OEM drive, i don't even know what that means.anyway i guess that a dvd-rw is not a cd-rw, and it should work fine with dvd's, not with cd's. i want to put a picture with my nero cd-dvd test that i done. but i don't know how

    @tibosee,
    If your drive came in a Retail Box with a cable, screws & software, you have a "Retail Drive". If it came by itself in a plastic bag/bubble pack sleeve with No Cable or software,or screws, you have a "bulk" or "oem" drive. I have burned many DVDs & CDs with my 4167B with Excellent results. Lot's of people will argue that the drives are the same, but I do not think so. It's my "opinion" that LG sells their Best Quality Drives in Retail Box form. I may be full of it. But all I use are Retail drives & I NEVER have a problem.
    Edited for typo. Ooops!

    Have you contacted LG to see if back flashing is possible? Just a thought.

    @tibosee,
    I would call LG Tech Support. They are VERY Helpful & when I called them once. They are nice people too. In fact, when I called them it was about corrupt firmware files on their site. They've since fixed this and all their firmware files are good. I know you can re-flash your drive back to DL11. But DL10 is not listed anywhere. Perhaps LG Tech has a way to send you that file. They have an 800#. I really don't know why you have trouble with this drive using DL12 firmware. I have DL12 on mine & it works as well or a little better than my 4163B drive. Anyway, give LG tech a call. Wouldn't hurt. You can find their # on their site. Here you go: 800-243-0000 LG Support

    @ tibosee, they probably are just as kind. :)
    Hopefully they can solve your issue OR send you a new drive.
    Those drives DO carry a 1 year "Peace fo Mind" warranty.
