hey seriously man,,doesnt anyone know..? and dont tell me about disk writer plug in in winamp..tried it alredy ..hence this post ..doesnt work ..says..winamp cant diskwrite shoutcast streams. any ideas?cdrw?
tks dude..wil try it out. is it on a time basis..ie..do i have to set it ..like 1 hr of recording or wht?or no of tracks? nik
I havent used it in a while but if I remember correctly you can start and stop it manually or set a maximum of disk space to use. I guess you need to read the docs on the website for more info.
tried streamripper..works well. couple of questions ...for anyone who knows. 1-my connection doesnt allow me to rip streams more than 56k and 44khz.they sound ok to me.. (on 128 it gets stoped after 1/2 hr or so auto) but for Cd quality it is 192 k or max 128k..right..??? anyway ,CAN I up the quality (fm 56 to 128)while tryimg to burn them onto Cds.if so which s/w shd i use.. 2-and while i'm doing this ,i shd be able to chip off 3-4 secs fm end and begining of the track,to remove sponsor/cahnnel msgs... 3-which s/w will alllow me to do both on a batch of tracks togtehr.. 4-and any other s/w for ripping which can be programmed to record fm a particular channel at a spec time? tks and peace out.. nik
Time to upgrade your connection dude, 56kbps mp3 is crap. To get CD quality you must be AT LEAST 128kbps which I personally dont think is good enough (192kbps or better preferred) but most streams aren't going to be higher than 128kbps. You should not reencode to a higher bitrate, the output is only as good as the source so dont waste the time and disc space. For editing MP3's I use Cool Edit (http://www.syntrillium.com/cooledit/) but there are plenty of other programs out there.
For 'CD-like' quality you need bitrates higher than 192kbps. VBR compression with LAME MP3 Enc. provides good quality with bitrates around 180-220kbps (it varies). For absolute CD quality you need to use LOSSLESS compression, such as Monkey's Audio. But lossless compresion provides quite large files. Highest quality LOSSY encoder is MusePack and it has very decent bitrates usually way below 200kpbs (160-200) with the "standard" quality setting and it sounds awesome. Check out this guide how to create ood sounding MP3s: http://cd-rw.org/articles/archive/mydeneaclame.cfm
tks cdrw, read the guide, but it tells me about careting best qlty mp3 fm Cds ,which iv done in the past. but will eac also help in my above problem or will it 56 k reamin uncahnged ..since eac makes exact copy.. as such then do u go withh lunatic has said here,,that i shd not waste my time ..or shd i give it shot with eac.. luna...i am on cable..but on a network..so i guess ,,the guy has crowded the network,,hence my lo speeds..how i d love to have a fsater connection,,but not too many good options for connectivity ..tried other options also,,but not so great..
ok ,one more thng,,after i installed streamrippre ..my bs player which i used for movies has stopped working.(it doesnt accept files it used to earlier.can streamripper have messed it up or is it sumthin else.. nik
