Yeah, like how do I tell if it is v1.1 or v1.06, and what does that even mean? Does it have to do with patches?

    Hi Magness,

First up, what game is it?

Usually games will come with a README.txt file on the CD or if it's downloaded a .nfo file which should mention the version somewhere in it.

Secondly, yes, the version usually has to do with patches or updates that the game developers have released. This is to fix bugs and/or improve the security on the game against hackers

There is actually a patch to v1.06 on the EA website if you want to be definitive about it and so you know there are no-cd fixes out there for v1.06 if you want to play the game without the CD/DVD in.

A patch is different from the whole game, right? If I wanted to download the game I would go to a place like Gamespot.com.
