I have a video booth at the back of a meeting room that feeds DVD and VHS recorders. The booth has controls for four fixed cameras and a bunch of mics, but when lecturers use the TV at the front of the room, I can't get a good A/V signal from the cameras. I would like to connect the TV directly to one of the video inputs on the console the best (and cheapest) way possible. I estimate the cable run would be no more than 50 feet. I understand this is a reasonable maximum for S-Video, but is this too far for the L/R audio? The TV out and console in have RCA phono connectors. Would I be OK if I just got a good set of quality cables for both S-video & audio? Or is there a better way to do this?
I would get a good quality set of rf-shielded cables for the run, plus I'd use a small signal amp at the camera's end to boost the signal, and a noise filter at the console side to clean it up a bit. Hope that helps.
