I'm hoping someone can lead me in the right direction here.

I've got an MKV video clip that I want to use in Adobe After Effects. Of course, AE doesn't recognise MKV files - so I need it converted to AVI or similar. Don't care about the audio side as it's eventually going to be played without audio.

I've seen posts about using MKVExtract - but I can't seem to get anything out of it??

    All help is really appreciated.

OK - I figured how to get info about the MKV file using MKVMerge. Here's what I got:

    Track ID 1: video <V_MPEG4/ISO/AVC>
    Track ID 2: audio <A_VORBIS>

When I try to extract - it says that it can't extract this sort of video file??
