Hi, I am trying to back up an ARccOS protected DL DVD using DVD Decrypter in ISO mode with an MDS file for the layer break information. I have PGCEdit and the PSL2 plugin - is this generally regarded the best method? (AnyDVD does not work, DVD Decrypter still won't read the disc.) My problem is that becuse I am reading in ISO mode, when Decrypter fails on the protected VOB, I click abort and it stops and doesn't read the rest of the disc obviously, and PGCEdit won't continue. How do I use the PSL2 plugin with ISO mode? Or alternatively, how can I create a file with the layer break info, separately from an ISO? Is there an alternative method for backing up these discs or is the PSL file method the only way? Many thanks
Hi. Is this a new title not yet released? There is a new AnyDVD out this weekend. You might try Ripit4me. It used a PSL to do the hard work. Hi, I have tried RipIt4Me and DVD Decrypter fails on one of the VOBs, but RipIt4Me says there are no protected sectors and that my disc is dirty. This is what the log says: "Scanning DVD Decrypter log for protected cells VTS 1 PGC 1 Cell 1 is protected Found 1 protected cell Analysing DVD structure MD = 400 MV = 4000 BOR = 1 BON = 1 REB = 1 BOS = 1 Analysis done Checking for potential read-errors caused by scratches on the disc. WARNING: Possible scratch/dirt on VTS 1 PGC 1 Cell 1 Re-ripping VTS_01_1.VOB with final PSL file Waiting for Decrypter to be ready Done importing the PSL file, now starting ripping... Done ripping ... Decrypter ripping time: 00:02:02 Scanning DVD Decrypter log for protected cells There are no protected cells. This DVD does not seem to be protected. Ripping failed... Sorry..." The DVD was released in 2001 and it is BRAND NEW, there are no marks of any kind on the disc. Thanks
AnyDVD should have handled this without any problems. To use DVD Decrypter in conjunction with AnyDVD as stated by Olli -> Proceed to the DVD Decrypter Opening Page - Tools - Settings I/O Tab - Click on "Elby CDIO-Elaborate Bytes" General Tab - un-check "Check For Structure Protection" This could simply be a bad press. It probably plays back OK doesn't it? Unfortunately, ripping and backing up requires no errors for the most part. Playbacks can overcome these types of things with error processing routines. AnyDVD with DVD Decrypter did not work. But I tried again using my second DVD writer (Pioneer) and it managed to read past the problem area, although only at 1.6x. My first drive is a Plextor 755A which I have only had for a month - why do you think it had problems with this disc? I must say I am feeling a bit disappointed about my Plex I have never used DVDFab Decrypter or VOBBlanker - how do I use them? Thanks for your help
Hi. Some are just better readers than others. I suspect there is a defect of some sort on that disk or a bad press and the Plextor couldn't overcome it. I think the link in my post above is to a DVDFab/Vobblanker guide. With AnyDVD, you shouldn't need to use DVDFab and Vobblanker or anything else. Usually if AnyDVD doesn't get the job done, it's because the burner has trouble reading the disk for whatever reason.
Hmmm something strange has happened, ImgBurn has been stuck at "43% - finalizing disc" for the last 20 minutes, which has never happened before. This is using the MDS/ISO produced by DVD Decrypter by the way. I'll just have to cancel it and waste a DL disc. Don't suppose you have any idea what's caused it? - I don't want to try again and waste another disc... Thanks again
What brand of DL media are you using? Verbatim is the best way to go. Is your burner firmware up to date? Are you burning with the Plextor or the Pioneer?
I am using Verbatim DVD+R DL 2.4x, always have, always will, and burning with my Plextor (at 2.4x, even though it will burn them at 4x). I have the latest firmware to the best of my knowledge.
Hi. It must just be the original DVD that is causing the problem. This is the only one giving you a problem, correct? Can you exchange the original disk for another? If it's a bad press, there's not much one can do except get another disk.
Hi, I cancelled the burn at 43% finalizing (it had already burnt all the data) and it works fine as far as I can tell. Thanks for your help
