how do i burn avalaunch to a disc???

ok ive got a copy of avalaunch and this is what i did and when i popped in the disc in my modded xbox it said it couldnt read it so here it goes:

i took the avalaunch file and created an ISO with qwix. once i had that file i used dvd decryper then mode>iso>write. i writed it to a CD-R that has 700mb on it. should i use a dvd-R or a dvd-RW? i just dont want to waste one thats all...ok so am i doing anything wrong or what here?

 

ok anyways i went ahead and tried burning it to a dvd-R - nope it didnt work. so i went ahead and downloaded evoX and did the same thing:

i took evoX.xbe and all the other stuff so the bios and the skins and stuff and made them all into an ISO file using qwix. then burnt it to a dvd-r using dvd decrypter. when i put it in my xbox it says it cant read it. someone please help me!!

 

Why are you making an iso with qwix?.. If your box is already modded just ftp everything onto it. Otherwise it depends on what your box is looking for as a bootable file. Usually it needs to be called default.xbe The easy way to do this is to put avalaunch (opened up..with avalaunch.xbe renamed default.xbe) on a disk with the other things you want to put on the box in folders..then just burn it as a normal compilation, you only need to make an xiso for a game. Why make life harder than it needs to be.. I burn apps disks all the time as K3B data projects.

To use a cd-r you will have to have a samsung 605b dvd rom..otherwise the philips drives read cd-rw..Best to stick with dvd-r..If you are putting less than 50mb on the disk just put a large file of 500mb or so..maybe an avi film in a folder just to pad it out to help the drive read the disk.

Get the FTP going..it's much easier.

Certainly not...samsung, philips av whatever it is and most tommys don't get on with + in any form, + disks vere virtually unknown when the dvd drive firmware specs were set..About 20% of xbox drives read them.. Stick to decent dvd-r and everythings good.

oh and also this is a freshly modded xbox, meaning that it plays burnt games but it still has the original M$ dashboard.

Have you found an autoinstaller disk..something like slayers or xwizard.
If not then you really want to have a look around the torrent sites in the xbox sections for one. If chipped you need slayers, aid, xwizard, bonesx, but if it's a a softmod..which I suspect, then xwizard and sid are the way to go. They have all the usual apps and it's a lot easier than trying to build everything from scratch.

thanks and its a chip a Xenium chip with xecuter2 bios running i didnt do it myself though my friends, friends friend did it all for me but it plays burnt games... and one quick noobie question:

DO YOU NEED A HACKED DASHBOARD TO FTP?

or can i just do it with my chip?

cuz i was thinking of just ftping over the hacked dash ive got and replacing the original. cuz i really have no idea how to use torrent sites but i geuss i could find out

 

You need a dash like evox or unleash to be able to ftp.. Personally I go for evox as the dash because it's easy and quick to set up..and if I want more function I load unleash or avalaunch as an app. I know there's loads of self titled "experts" out there who will disagree and say "use this, use that", but I'm a pro and that's good advice for somebody just starting out.
When you're learning how things work it's safer that way because evox doesn't have any way to delete anything, so it's a safe childproof launcher, stable and hard to mess up... When you get a bit of experience (and you can trust your family and friends) then move up to a dash with more functions.

 

ok, thanks! so yea does it have to be an auto installer cuz theyre really hard to find...ive got a copy of evoX with the default.xbe and all the bios and skins but when i burn them it doesnt work...

 

They aren't really that hard to get..just have a good look at the major torrent search sites like torrentspy and isohunt and you'll find one. otherwise you don't have any way of actually getting anything onto the drive. The xbe has to be specially created to load the drive. Even I ain't sure how to go about that. lol

hey janrocks i want to thank you for all your help! i downloaded a slayers evox auto installer from a torrent, burnt it and my xbox is currently installing and upgrading all the apps! thanks!
