Does anyone have any tips of what I use in nero or how to burn a dvd so that it will play in my dvd player. I am using my PS2 and it has played other movies I have borrowed from a friend.

if you are trying to back up your original dvds, most of them have copy protection that nero alone cannot bypass. what are you wanting to back up? most discs nowadays are dual layer so you either need dual layer discs & burner or you need to shrink the files to fit on a single layer dvd. dvd decypter or dvd fab decrypter will remove most copy protection & you can use dvd shrink to compress the files vobblanker may also be needed for some of the newer movies (this removes bad/dummy files). these are all free programs that you will find with a google search. there are some great guides on these forums on how to use the programs.

there are several other programs some free some not. but the above programs will get you started.

if you want ease of use try anydvd & clone dvd2 from slysoft.com. these are not free but well worth the $ as they are constantley updated & have never let me down when backing up a dvd. (you can get a 21 day free trial for both programs)

i do have all these programs. Well the AnyDVD and DVDshrink. I just don't know what options to use when choosing from nero. Do I use the Nero visionexpress2 or use nero burning rom?? I just want to be able to play them back in a dvd player other than my computer. I have the files setup to go but just what do I use from nero. I have tried a few but i don't want to waste more dvd's for trial and error.

I have nero version 6.0.0.0 i should maybe download the updates and install them...But i don't know how that would affect the burning process. I do also have NeroVision express 2. I have tried using express to0 but no luck there either.

it shouldnt effect the burning process by installing the updates. & you can always set a restore point in windows if you are worried. i know nero 5 didnt burn dvd's but i am not sure about 6.0.0.0.
try an upgrade & see if it gives you the burn dvd option.

Update to these versions, they actually work well. The last version of Nero 6 from Ahead was buggy and wouldn't burn automatically with Shrink.

    nero version 6.6.0.18 updates:
    Package 1
    http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/Nero-6.6.0.18_no_yt.exe

    Package 2
    http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/NVE-3.1.0.21_no_yt.exe

Once you get your Nero updated, Start your movie in Shrink and enable Shrink to use Nero to burn with automatically.

Edit > Preferences > File I/O > Check the "enable burning with Nero" box.

    Process your movie as usual

When you select "Backup!", the Backup DVD menu opens. For Target Device, select your burner and to burn with Nero.

Go to the last tab, your Burn Settings tab and set your burn speed. Make sure you have your blank in before doing that. 4X to 8X is OK. I use 4X.

When you select OK Shrink will encode the movie and open Nero automatically at the correct time to start the burn.
