how do i burn permanant subs into a xvid file?

    I was wondering what free program i can use to burn permanant subs into the i have a file called ssa which is the subs if that is any help to anyone

    AVISynth/VSFilter to frameserve with the subs.
    avisource("video.avi",false)
    textsub("video.ssa")

    AVS2AVI or VirtualDub(Mod) to encode.

    AVIMuxGUI or VirtualDub(Mod) to demux original audio and remux,

    Could also try something like AutoGK.

    Thanks for the help but could you possible explain it step by step as I am a newbie to what you have just said sorry I should of exlpained that in my 1st post

    i use either avi2dvd or film machine for adding subs, excellant apps indeed = free and easy, with excellant results

    Guess that depends if they want a DVD at the end of it or not. I assumed that they wanted an XviD avi with permenant subs at the end of it.

    I just want to burn permanant subs in the movie and then covert it to play on my psp

    Ok then first you should encode it using one of those programs that will not turn it into a dvd file aka (video_ts) file but just a divx or xvid file and then convert it with the program for the psp movies.

    The PSP plays mp4 files right? Does it not support ttext subs?
