    Hello,

I need some help figuring out how to change my Booktype for my DVD burner. I have a Sony DRU-700A with the VY08 firmware update. I'm also using Sony DVD Architect 3.0c, for it has the project I want to burn on it. I need to change my burner so it reads it as DVD-ROM.

If anyone could provide me step by step instructions on how to do this I would be very greatful.

    -Thanks

Your drive should really be a Lite-On 832S, the booktype utility for that drive can be found here:

    http://www.liteonamericas.com/us/download_utility.htm

Sony typically has their drives made for them by either Lite-On or BenQ, the one you have is actually a Lite-On drive. This is called rebadging.

If I download that, will it turn my sony drive into a Lite-On drive? Allowing it to booktype?

You will probably have to crossflash your drive with Lite-On firmware and then use the utility. This is very risky and a bad flash can fry your drive and void your warranty. I'm an NEC user and have never had to crossflash a drive. If you have DVD Decrypter or Nero you could probably use the booktype function to acheive your goals without crossflashing or using modified firmware.
