Just got a PS3 and dont want to update it, but want to connect it to my network.

With an Xbox you can block it from connecting to Xbox Live, can you do something similar with a PS3?

Go to account settings under network, there is an option in there to turn off the auto-login.

...Or if you want it all the way disconnected, you could assign the PS3 a static IP, and then block all WAN traffic to and from that IP in your router settings.

Didnt see anything for auto login. Is this because i've never signed up to the psn?

Ive got everything connected now so can use the browser and media server stuff.

The console wont ever auto update though will it? I mean, I would have to update via System update right? Or I would at least have to say yes to a system update?

If you have never logged into the PSN, then I don't think it will login by itself.

The system will never update itself. It may make it very easy to upgrade if you connect to the PSN, but it will always ask for you to agree to a 50,000 page disclaimer before it starts.
