if you have a dvd player and vcr recorder combo you should be able to do a straight play and record

but my question, and please, this is NOT intended as a flame, WHY DO YOU WANT TO? that is like transcribing a word document into shorthand... it is going backwards....

if it is for a friend that only has vhs (no DVD player) then I suggest you save youself the hassle and expense (in time and money) and buy him one of the new DVD stand alone players. they have a MSRP of about $40 if you are in a hurry... but if you wait you can get it a lot cheaper. Last thanksgiving I paid $15 (incliding instore and mail-in rebates) and it has mp3 kvcd and a dozen other formats (including standard DVDs of course) that it can play I had been contemplating saving $100 to buy one that would do just half of the formats.

Needles to say, I am very happy with it and am sure others in the stone age of vcr's will be too.

Thanks for the response. You are right it is for a friend and is just one conversion. If they don't buy a dvd player then we will get them one! Thanks, Russ

I don't want to sound like an advertisement so I won't put the URL here but Google key words like:

"buy now" "Kodak picture CD" "PAL/NTSC" "digital video" "digital audio" "Dolby digital"

should narrow the search, I got a dozen under $50 (lowest $32.99 plus S/h) on the third entry that I tried (about the fifth item that came up was one of those presearch sites)

and I expect there will be another blitz of sales the Friday after thanksgiving, just like last year (and no S/h), if you can wait that long
