I've got a few movies on my computer in MPEG and AVI format. I've tried converting them with WinAVI Video Converter to .VOB but it doesn't play on my DVD player. Now I have TMPGEnc Software Suite 2005 on my computer and was hoping someone knows how to convert with this program to .VOB format. If so, please let me know how. Thanks
check out our guides section here, there are many ways you can transfer your avi files to DVD or other mpeg formats http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/
I have used Blaze Media Pro for converting files and have never had problems with it so give it a try. And as far as it not playing on your dvd player can be a few reasons. Is it a more new dvd player or a more old dvd player. Also what software do u use to burn the dvd.
Pretty much any DVD authoring program will get the job done. The most user-friendly I've seen is NeroVision Express.
I've got Nero Express. It does look easy enough but will that do all the encoding I need to switch it over to DVD format? I use the Nero Recode when burning regular DVD-9 movies made to fit on DVD-R. I've also tried Spilting the audio/video with TMPGEnc, then using VirtualDub on the AVI file to get the audio and finally using IFOEdit to recode to .vob format. This gets the video playing and the audio working but for some reason the movie is VERY jerky. Kinda like the disc is sratched but it's not. Doesn't matter what media I use either.
Nero has a method called transcoding, which many other authoring programs have adopted. Before it would take a number of hours upon hours to author a dvd, but now that you can encode through a single stream on one pass, authoring a dvd has never been easier. So you literally just follow the menu prompts, and your content will be converted to dvd format and stored on either your hard drive, or directly to disc.
