How do I copy DVD to Hardisk and save in SWF formt

I need some clips from a private movie for a site.
The video is on DVD. I am told it is best to use flash to upload to my site. I use blue voda web builder which is an HTML generator.

For this to be successful I must save it in SWF format I am told.
I am an absolute novice at this so please give me an answer meant for dummies.

Since the DVD is unencrypted, you can use DVD Shrink to select the clips.

Run DVD Shrink and 'Open Disc'.
Click 'Reauthor' and drag 'Title 1' from right to left.
Right click on Title 1 and choose 'Set start/ end frames'.
Select your clip and 'ok'
If at this point you want more clips to be joined to the first, drag Title 1 again and repeat.
If you prefer to have the clip stand alone, click ''Backup'.
Choose the hard drive as the backup target.
Give the folder a name and save it.
Exit DVD Shrink.

Browse to the folder, open it and then open 'VIDEO_TS'
Inside this folder, find 'VTS_01_1.VOB'
Rename this file as 'clip1.mpg'

Run 'Free Video to Flash Converter', browse to clip1.mpg and convert the file to .swf format.

Note that if the clips are large, you might find it faster to rip the complete DVD to the hard drive and use that folder instead of the DVD.
In this case you would Open the disk, and click 'Backup', then exit and restart DVD shrink and 'Open Files'.

It was real good to receive such precise instructions.
Works like a dream, You've made me look like a real pro!
Unfortunately the whole DVD 4.3MB is in one chapter,
It precludes me from taking little bits out of it to show.

In DVD Shrink, if you keep dragging 'Title 1' from right to left and selecting sections, you end up with a 'VIDEO_TS' folder that contains 'VTS_' files that correspond to each clip (or new Title).
VTS_01_1.VOB is the first clip or title
VTS_02_1.VOB is the next one, etc.
Then rename each one as .mpg and convert.

Hello again Attar,
I'm not able to import into Pinnacle.
I took a screen shot of the menus and pinnacle to show that I think I am doing it correct. I do not know how to attach the screenshot.

Method I employed.
1. Pinnacle. Open file. Import DVD. Select video to import to.
Engage import. Nothing happens.
Where am I going astray please.

Another question please
2. I have received some DVDs (business seminars) from Brittain. They show the image fine, but have no sound. What can I do to rectify this please.

I haven't used Pinnacle - it would be best to start a new thread with that name in the description.

If DVD's normally play ok on your PC, then it must be something specific to these ones.

Drag 'VTS_01_1.VOB' from the 'VIDEO_TS' folder on the disk onto GSpot and check the audio stream type, then try and figure why it's not playing.

This video shows AC3 audio in the lower left and the codec is installed.

 

I have tried, still no sound.
I have made a screen print saved in word, but do not know how to attach this.
To all intends and purposes as far as I can see t seems all right it say that codecs are installed.

Theonly difference I see between DVD which play sound and one which does not is In the top right of Gspot it says MPEG-2 Codec(s) are installed. At the bottom left in the Codec field it states MPG1-layer2.
The non playing one is the same at the top, but in the bottom at the codec field it says AC3.
Is this the problem, if so how do I rectify this please

Hi Attar,
I am still not there.

At the end of the process it shows me a blank black screen and it makes a noise intemittandly, but no video and no audible sound.
What am I doing wrong?
The video in question plays on everything, in Windows media, on my TV via a disk player. On my big screen via a projector, the lot, but not where I want it... where am I loosing the plot please?
Do you think i should give it up as a bad job? Perhaps go to UTube, but I do not like utube, it is too public. I would truly like to use flash. It is also better when one tries to get SE ranking.
