I have a lot of AVI files i would like to convert to DVD format.
Each file is in Divx format and are about 170 megs a peice. I'd like to get as many as possible per DVD. (In MPEG 2 format they were a little over 200 megs)
I have winavi and tried to convert to dvd. It made a 170 meg file 1+ gigs! I then tried creating MPEG 2 files and renaming them but nero gave me an error because i did not have IFO files. I even tried creating a dvd sized svcd but nero would not let me burn it.

    HELP!!

What you Need is a DVD Authoring Program which will allow you to add a Menu at the Begining were you can select which Clip you want to watch and let you add any chapters you want and then it will format it all and Burn it to DVD for you....

Your Files will have to be in Mpeg-2 format and then must be DVD compliant before useing the DVD Authoring Program....

A Really super Simple one is called "Tmpgenc DVD Author" but if you want one that has better munu features and Makes nicer DVD"s then Try "MediaChance DVDLab pro"...Both of these Programs Have a Fully working 30 day demo available which you can probably find in the Software section of This web site....

    Cheers

I looked a round and saw some people mention Tmpgenc . I tried it and it seems pretty good. But is there any way to have a gentle medium between DVD resolutions of 355x288 and 705x??? ?
at the low resolution it looks crappy but is only 170 megs a peice but the high one is double the size! and of course my videos are 500x400 . go figure!
    Anyway thanks for the help!

There are 4 resolutions you can use to make a Pal or NTSC DVD...

The resolutions you can use are:

    720+480-NTSC / 720+576-Pal
    704+480-NTSC / 704+576-Pal
    352+480-NTSC / 352+576-Pal
    342+240-NTSC / 352+288-Pal

so you might want to try the 352+480/576 resolution....
