Hi, I'm new here and I'm trying to find out how to download games to my PS3. Maybe if you guys could link me to some working programs and tell me how to use them that'd be great. Just a few things first though, I only have one CD drive in my computer and it is not Bluray. Also, is there any way I can just download games DIRECTLY to my PS3? Thanks alot. -Envy
Thankfully, you don't need a computer or anything besides your PS3 to download PS3 games to your PS3's hard drive. The process is simple: 1.) Turn on your PS3. (If you don't use your DS3/Sixaxis to turn it on, press the PS button on it now to activate it.) 2.) When it is finished booting up, use your Sixaxis/DS3 to navigate to the "Network" tab. 3.) Click on "Playstation Store." 4a.) If you haven't created a PSN account yet, do so now. 4b.) Once you have access to the Playstation Store, you can download various games, movies, XMB themes, avatars, and the like. 5.) Enjoy.
Best instructions I've seen. Not to mention, anything you want will download STRAIGHT to your PS3, so it's ultimate win.
One of the first things a person does when they join a forum, is read the rules, the rules usually state using the search function, which you clearly have not done. To answer your question, it isn't possible yet and i hope it never is.
marcusita, ever the cordial one. That said, there IS a way to download full games for free. You have to go onto PSN every Tuesday (ie the new update day) after the site is updated and download the demos, hoping that Sony miffs it up and uploads the full game instead. (This did in fact happen with one game. Some Konami hack-n-slash, I think.) So yeah. Happy huntin'.
It's a bit odd then that I found a thread explaining how to do so. It was a bit complicated so I thought I might make a new one. But I'm assuming it was an old thread and your rules have changed since then.
If you're talking about the Swap Switch thread, then that one's a perfectly legitimate thread. If you're talking about the countless other threads asking or talking about how to download PS3 games, burn PS3 games, play PS3 games off of an external hard drive, and on and on, then you still didn't bother looking at the stickies which explicitly state that PS3 backups aren't playable on the PS3.
If you are actually looking for the illegal way to do this you can do what every other person on the planet does. 1.) Get a computer 2.) Get internet access 3.) Google search it (I actually heard Bing works for this too) It is against forum rules to post direct links to sites with pirated copies of games so for the future you can't come here asking questions like "where do i download free games?" A more appropriate question would be "How do I get my PS3 to play backup copies of my originals?" Which, as of right now, the answer is there is no way to play PS3 backups.
Wow...I can't believe some people still think they can pirate PS3 games! The only way to pirate games on the PS3 is on the older (backwards compatable) units...and even then, you can only pirate PS2 games. Now, if you want games free (or at least heavily discounted) and legal, check out the gamesharing thread on this forum. Oh yeah...and supposedly the developer consoles run copied games...but those things cost $2000...so even if they do run pirate games, you will have to pirate a lot of games to save any money.
I can't seem to find it; I found a 360 dev console, but you don't need a dev console to pirate 360 games.
