How do i eliminate or reduce black bars in my h.264/avi vids

    Sorry I'm a newb, and am frustrated that alot of my vids come with these abnormally large balcks bars on the top and botton of the vid giving a thin horizontal image. If anyone can point this newb in the right direction I would gladly appreciate it.

    use this free software to edit your avi. Open your video, then choose filters/crop and adjust the crop to eliminate the blackbars. (make sure after you crop that resulting height is an even number). It will have to reencode the video but you can adjust the quality. I ussually just leave the default settings and it finishes in less than 30 minutes on my amd 9750 quadcore. The quality is acceptable to me.
