I was wondering if there are any dvd players out there that play data discs of avi, ogm, mkv files, etc. Are there any dvd players out there that play data discs like that? And it would be cool if I could update the codecs by downloading it from the DVD players webisite.

I would just really like a player which will play OGG, OGM, MKV, AVI, WMV, MOV, Multiple audio tracks, etc. pretty much anything i shove into it.

Much of what you want can be done

The mediatek based Sigmatek XM-400 Pro will do avi (xvid-PB+QPEL, divx-PB+QPEL+GMC), ogg, ogm, multiple audio tracks.

The new sigma based ones like DP600 will do WMV in addition to the above as well as in HD.

MKV is just a container, support for it and contents is the problem.

If you want something to do everything then build a media pc. OR a modded XBOX running something like XBMC will be second choice after a pc.

see this list for supported formats

    http://www.xboxmediacenter.com/xbmc_vs_xbmp.htm

The problem with the concept of a DVD player that plays any avis etc. is avis can be made will anyone of a hundred codecs -Divx 3.11, 4, 5, xvis, vp6, indeo, the list is endless.
