I have an older HP Pavillion 7960 and need to reload the bios, HP has no bios update for this computer can I get one from the mobo manufacturer and how do I find out which mobo it has?
I often encounter these older HP or PB rigs. If you are searching, it will help you to remove one 'L' and spell Pavilion. My info is, Pentium III - 1.3GHz or so, Intel chipset. Your board could be Asus, but I heard warnings you must use only HP BIOS... Could be Asus A7V-VM or WMT-LX. Get all info from mobo you can, read fineprint ID chipset. Is it Intel 850? Run with the BIOS you have; search for updated one is fraught with perils. Here is an example of correspondence on the HP UK website: http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=65871 RIP, HP.

Thanks for your help, but HP has no update for this bios thats why I asked if I could get one from the motherboard manufacturer or at this point get the original bios, since it was corrupted.
