I chipped my wii with a Wiinja Deluxe. When I first installed it it wouldn't recognize any burned dvds. I figured out that something was wrong with the reset switch. I don't know I could have been wired wrong so it was disabling the wiinja. After cutting that wire the wii did recognize the burned dvd's. I played the burned super paper mario for a bit and took it out to try an original game. I don't know why it did it but I remember it saying it encountered an error. I think I ejected it then put zelda in (original) I can't remember. Then I reset. It asked me at one point to update my wii. I think it was in the wii menu, not the game. I tried to update but it couldn't update because there was something wrong with my internet. I fooled around with my router and got the internet connection to work. I updated the wii through the internet connection test. It reset and now it still asks for an update when I try to click the disc menu.. The disc doesnt even spin or try to read. I click ok to update and it says update failed. There is no option to bypass it. Its gives the update warning and then it always says it failed, and it resets. I go back to the wii update menu and it still says no updates are available. I put any wii game in and it does still does the same thing... asks to update! If I put a gamecube game in it's plays just fine. The Super Paper Mario game was Downloaded from Wiiso and it did say it was NTSC which is my system. What's going on? Is there any way to fix this?? This sucks. Pretty expensive GameCube if thats all I can play.
wow friend, seems like your in a pickle idk what to tell you idk much about bricked wiis i think it might be "might" be semi-bricked.
I think this is what happened.. Super Paper Mario tried to do a cd update. It crashed and interrupted the update it wanted to make. I updated it from the internet connection menu instead of with cd. What I'm thinking is that now the Wii still thinks the cd is supposed to update the system. It trys to update and doesnt care what game is in there but it fails because it's already is up to date so it can't. I'm HOPING, when a new update from a game comes out it will try to update and succeed this time. I don't think there's anything wrong with the chip install. If I put a cd that is incompatible it says that there's a bad cd in there. If I put a burned wii game in, it doesnt say it's bad, just that it needs to update. If I put an orignal or burned gamecube game in it will work no problem and doesnt need to update. Anyone think I still have hope, or do ya think the chip is whats wrong with it? Or that the only way to get it fixed is to do a repair? EDIT: Anyone know when the next update will be???
